Tablets are heaven-sent, larger than smartphones but smaller than laptops, the perfect entertainment device. Their compact size is also ideal for students and office goers who need to read emails, PDFs, and articles on a larger screen than a smartphone. Oddly enough, tablets can be expensive and the new Realme Pad is an exception. It is Realme’s first-ever budget category tablet but its looks and features tell a completely different story.
Android tablets, especially the budget ones tend to slow down over the initial months of use. The Realme Pad should not suffer that fate, as it comes with the MediaTek Helio G80 CPU, seen on many upper-midrange devices. It’s a strong CPU that can handle day-to-day tasks smoothly. Browsing the internet, watching full HD videos, or spending time browsing social media apps is effortless. The Android 11 user experience on the Realme UI for Pad is enhanced thanks to the new interface, specially designed for tablets. It offers a near-stock Android interface which is light, and stutter-free.
The UI supports the Split Screen feature that lets you run two apps side-by-side. This should come in handy, especially while taking notes. The tablet also has a dedicated Kids Mode that offers parental controls. It lets you restrict the time your children use the tablet, and even specific apps. Realme says the tablet will also support Android 12 in the coming months.
The Realme Pad runs the Mali-G52 GPU that lets you play high-end games like Call of Duty: Mobile, Battlegrounds India, Asphalt 9: Airborne and Minecraft. The Realme Pad is available in two variants. The base model comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The higher-end model has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. You can also add a microSD card to expand the storage.
The Realme Pad may be a budget device, but it looks premium. The device is just 6.9mm thick and weighs 440 grams. Its slim design means you can comfortably hold the tab in one hand and carry it around easily. Where most budget tablets use plastic, the Realme Pad opts in for an aluminium body. This means you get premium looks without compromising on durability. The device is available in two colours – Real Grey and Real Gold.
Despite its thin design, Realme has managed to put in a headphone jack at the bottom of the device. Most thin tablets miss out on this feature these days, being able to plug in your favourite wired headphones is always a good thing. Bluetooth 5.0 is also present, for Bluetooth audio solutions and peripherals.
The Realme Pad runs a 10.4-inch display at a resolution of 2000 × 1200. This resolution is rarely seen in budget tablets. The device is perfect for watching binging content from platforms like Amazon Prime and Netflix. With this kind of resolution, you can consume a ton of text content without straining your eyes. This screen is also perfect for gamers. More screen area means you see more details and there is ample space for arranging on-screen controls. As screen bezels are minimal, holding the device in landscape orientation becomes easier. Realme says the screen produces up to 360 nits of brightness, so it should be readable even outdoors.
Another feature that makes the Realme Pad stand out from other budget offerings is its quad-speaker setup. These speakers promise a loud and clear audio experience. They also support Hi-Res audio that makes content watching more enjoyable.
The device comes with an 8MP front-facing camera that offers a 105-degree field of view. It is perfect for video calls and taking selfies. The rear also has an 8MP camera, which should be good enough for scanning documents. Both, the front and rear cameras shoot full HD videos at 30fps.
The Realme Pad supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac for wireless connectivity. The LTE variant of the device has dual SIM card slots. You can also make voice calls from these models using the loudspeaker or earphones. The tab also promises a solid battery life with its massive 7,100mAH battery. It ships with an 18W charger that takes about two hours to take the tablet from 0 to 100 per cent charge.
The Realme Pad is a clear winner among budget tablets. Its display size and resolution are perfect for apps geared towards learning, work and even gaming. Its powerful internals and promise for future updates make it a futureproof device. Prices for the base model starts at Rs. 13,999* and all models are now available at www.reliancedigital.in.
