Have you been looking for a premium Android tablet and have struggled to find a convincing one? Looks like that search may be over, because Samsung just announced their Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ tablets. They are on the way to India, and Reliance Digital. You can soon buy it online too, at reliancedigital.in. There are several reasons to be interested in the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 series, the first of which is it the lack of premium Android tablets around. Many of us use Android as our daily drivers on our smartphone but being able to seamlessly transition to a tablet for work and entertainment is a wish that has this far, never been fulfilled.
The two models, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7+ have small differences between them. Even the largest difference between them is a small difference, the screen size. The Galaxy Tab S7 uses a 11-inch LTPS TFT screen while the premium model, the Galaxy Tab S7+ runs a 12.4-inch Super AMOLED screen. The AMOLED display helps with better contrast ratio and colour rendition. It’s particularly useful when you watch action movies with darker scenes and explosions. The detail is more prominent than on a traditional LCD panel. AMOLED displays also help improve battery life by quite a bit. Both tablets come with 120Hz displays. The higher refresh rate makes scrolling much smoother and it’s also useful only playing fast-paced action games. Most modern smartphones come with 90Hz displays and it’s good to see 120 Hertz on both these tablets.
There are resolution differences as well. The more premium Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ runs as resolution of 2800 x 1752, while the Tab S7 runs a good 2560 x 1600 resolution. Both these screens are great, and they offer higher resolutions than all Android tablets under this price range. Both tablets run a 16:10 aspect ratio, compared to the 16:9 aspect ratio used in other screens. It also means you scroll far less. Both the tablets have high pixel densities, so you get a lot of content in the screen as well as good detail. Colour accuracy is a trait that can’t be missed out either. Both the displays are rated as DCI-P3 certified, which means you could use them for professional graphics editing and other creative work. If you plan on spending a lot of time working on the tablet, you will be happy to know that the Tab S7 comes with Low Blue Light certification while the Tab S7+ comes with Eye Care certification. The tablets are designed to reduce eye strain when you work for long hours. The tablets display great quality without being overly bright or using harsh colours.
Handling such high-resolution displays requires a fast processor as well. These are after all, tablets that can do it all. Samsung has put Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ processors on both tablets and you also get 8GB of RAM. Samsung claims the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ is about 25 per cent faster than the outgoing Tab S6 and about 36 per cent faster in graphics performance. Neural performance has been improved by about 77 per cent. They should come handy when using smart applications that need to do voice recognition, detecting objects on camera apps and more. The result are tablets that are great for running all kinds of apps and game, with the absolute best performance. It’s also a way to future-proof a tablet. A tablet that is incredibly fast today, will also be very fast in the years to come. That aside, both tablets come with 128GB of internal storage. There should be more than enough space to install your favourite apps and games. However, if you aren’t content, you can also plug in a microSD card. The tablets support cards up to 1TB.
Tablets are not commonly used for clicking photographs but Samsung has put a pair of good cameras at the back. There is a 5MP wide-angle camera, accompanied with another 13MP camera that can not only shoot great photos but also record 4K videos up to 30 frames per second. There is a bunch of smart wizardry that comes with these cameras which enables you to click slow-motion videos, do hyper-lapse and time-lapse shorts, even use augmented reality in certain applications. These cameras are almost as smart as the ones we see on modern smartphones.
Not everything about the Samsung Tab S7 and Tab S7+ are about brute performance. The battery for example, has some useful features. The 45-Watt super-fast charging feature lets the tablets charge from zero to 100 per cent in no time at all. You could keep it for charging while you get ready for work, and the tablet will be good to go for the entire day. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ has a slightly larger 10,000mAh battery and it can go up to 14 hours with video playing and much more, with casual use. The Tab S7 has a slightly smaller 8,000mAh battery but also a smaller screen, so it can do 15 hours of non-stop video playback. If you aren’t watching videos for 14 and 15 hours at a time, you will rarely find yourself charging the tablet.
The other important features are the ones best known to Samsung’s Galaxy Note series of smartphones – the S Pen. The new S Pen is tweaked to offer ultra-low latency which means it feels this like touching pen to paper – there simply is no delay or lag. There is also a magnetic attachment, so you can simply clip the S Pen to your tablet for easy operation and for carrying. It supports air actions so you can use gestures to control the tablet. You don’t even need to touch the S Pen to the screen. The S Pen can also be used to scribble and write on PDFs. The new Samsung Note Sync app lets you synchronise your notes between your tablet smartphone and laptop.
There are several other accessories that can be bought for the new Samsung Tab S7 series, with the most prominent being the Book Cover Keyboard. It behaves like a case, but it also lets you push the screen back, offering 160 degrees of inclination which means you can use it like a laptop. It even comes with a large track pad and dedicated function keys. The keys are large and have a tactile feel too, like the ones on laptops.
The search for great Android tablets comes to a fruitful end. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7+ are expected to hit Indian markets soon and you can find it here at reliancedigital.in or at your nearest Reliance Digital store. Pre-orders are expected to begin shortly, so stay tuned for the latest details.
